A random algorithm for the development of force control assembly strategies

Many practical problems arise in automation and optimization of assembly systems. One of the most important ones is related to misalignment. The paper gives a brief overview of these problems and of the use of passive and active techniques. A very general algorithm of the ‘guesswork’ type is presented and the typical results of its application for some routine situations as well. The paper may be treated as an introduction to more refined study of the domain, both in technical and in theoretical terms.
