Abstract:

Usual scheduling rules are not always appropriate in a Kanban assembly job-shop. The authors present five new heuristic rules that use an analysis of assembly network diagram topology to schedule waiting jobs. The production of a sample of the products of a firm is simulated under different operation conditions. MCDM techniques allow comparison of rules for the optimization of makespan, stock level, and setups.
