This case study involves scheduling in a die-casting firm where load and capacity change too rapidly to follow a firm long-term schedule. It describes how a short-term scheduling procedure that uses the transportation model running on a microcomputer was implemented in that firm. The costs involved in the procedure are minimal. With necessary modifications, the same method can be implemented in any similar environment.
