There are a number of analytical techniques available that yield optimal solutions to the aggregate scheduling problem. However, successful application of these models is rarely reported. In this article, a spreadsheet approach for developing aggregate schedules is presented. The spreadsheet captures the structure of the aggregate scheduling problem intuitively, and the what-if and graphics capabilities greatly facilitate the identification of good solutions.
