This paper presents a modified fuzzy programming approach to linear vector maximum and minimum problem. It shows that using the fuzzy min-operator together with linear membership functions the obtained solutions are always optimal compromise solutions of the original multicriteria decision making problems. This modified method is compared with one of the existing fuzzy programming algorithm by using some numerical examples. For this method, an efficient Fortran program has been developed based on the modified fuzzy programming algorithm which is an extended version of simplex algorithm. For obtaining an optimal compromise solution of a vector minimum problem, the representation of membership function is not unqiue.
