Abstract:

This paper describes a decision support system for sequencing oil and gas fields designed for the Danish Ministry of Energy. It is intended to be used for determining which oil fields should be developed in the next 20 years. The problem was modelled using pure zero-one programming. The authors briefly state the model and describe the solution technique incorporated in the system. The system uses Marsten’s ZOOM/XMP package as well as problem-specific heuristics designed to obtain good feasible integer solutions relatively fast. The system also contains a sophisticated user interface in order to facilitate the input for the system and the interpretation of the results. The last section contains remarks and conclusions about development of mathematical model and user interface for a client.
