A note on a network model for nursing staff scheduling problems

The staffing problems of hospital nurses have been studied by several researchers and a network model to minimize the flow of resources through the network has also been developed. In a recent study an optimizing algorithm for the hospital staffing problem is presented. However, it does not lead to an optimal solution. This study presents an optimal solution to this proble and adds the optimality proof for Khan and Lewis’s algorithm. Furthermore, the optimality of this problem is demonstrated by its linear programming formulation.
