A method is suggested for determining economic replenishment policy for an inventory item having positive linear trend in demand. In a replenishment cycle, shortages are permitted and they are backordered. It is shown that the method will result in a lower cost inventory policy than the policy obtained by a recently published method. The method is illustrated with the help of an example.
