Abstract:

A new structure for a hierarchical control system is proposed which attempts to develop a unified framework for the description, analysis and design of a hierarchical control system in which a number of problems to be settled in real-time exist. The problems in the proposed structure are arranged on line as tasks with different degrees of urgency, which will alter with the controlled process running. The main function of the high-level coordinator in a hierarchical control system is to make a reasonable choice of the present task among all those to be carried out, according to their degree of urgency, relevant data and parameter subsets. To understand the functions of the coordinator and tasks, the constitution of a specific industrial hierarchical control system is explained. The conclusion reveals that this structure for a hierarchical control system provides a reference for the design of the structure of large-scale complex control systems.
