Abstract:

This paper reports on the effect of Type I (rejecting a good item) and Type II (accepting a defective item) inspection errors on sampling risks (α and β) in attribute-based lot appraisal using sequential sampling. It is shown that both α and β risks are raised by Type I and Type II errors when total rejection count is used as the SPRT score basis. The effect of Type I errors is considerably more serious than of Type II errors.
