This paper reviews about 500 papers on scheduling problems with setups. It classifies problems based on shop environments, family and non‐family setups. It further classifies as sequence‐dependent and sequence‐independent setups. It identifies independently addressed problems and the need to compare them. The paper, with two previous surveys, covers the research since mid‐1960s to date.
