The aim of the environmental impact report for the High Speed Train through Belgium is to compare the environmental effects of all its possible locations. Because such an analysis covers a wide range of aspects multicriteria analysis is used to aggregate the effects. Because of mixed data and ordinal priorities a new method (the average value ranking method) has been developed. In this paper, the methodology is described and illustrated.
