Car ownership in Syria is low, but has more than doubled since 2004. Air pollution from Syria's transport and energy production sectors are analysed. Air quality can be improved by using greener and more public transport. Policy should incentivise efficient energy consumption in all sectors. The use of renewable energy resources should be promoted.
