We evaluated a solar photovoltaic (PV) rebate program. The program was ineffective, reducing emissions by 0.09 MtCO2‐e/yr. The average abatement cost was ~AU$250/tCO2‐e. The program had a relatively minor impact as an industry assistance measure. The distribution of rebates was skewed toward higher SES areas.
