Note on an optimization model for pavement marking systems

This note clarifies a practical aspect related to an optimization model of pavement marking systems developed by Kouskoulas. The change in vehicle operating cost as speed decreases (which is considered as a positive constant in the model) can also, in reality, be negative and highly nonlinear. This note shows the structure of the solution when the change in operating cost is negative and presents a more precise nonlinear representation of the operating cost change.
