The authors start from the three ideas of CAT, CAD and CAR (Computer Aided Testing, Design and Repairing). They examine how these concepts can be integrated into an overall model including CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing) and JIT (just In Time) using statistical information about the lifetime of a product.
