Abstract:

Polytopes arising from planar three-index transportation problems of order m×n×k are investigated. Theorems concerning the regularity, the dimension and the representability of such polytopes are shown. In particular it is shown that any number of the form (m-1)(n-1)×(k-1)-m1n1k1-m2n2k2+1 where m1+m2=m, n1+n2=n, k1+k2=k occurs as dimension of such a polytope.
