A simple mathematical model for optimizing the use of car parking spaces

Mathematical models to optimize the use of parking spaces generally take explicitly into account distances between parking lots and destination buildings in the objective functions. In this paper a simple mathematical model is presented in which ranks rather than distances appear in the objective function. This new approach has the great advantage of making the model case of formulation as well as ease of solution by clerks, and the data it needs is much less than what is generally required when similar models are used.
