This study empirically investigates the effects of safety management on safety performance, specifically in the container stevedoring operations context. Hierarchical regression analysis revealed that safety concern, safety motivation, and supervisors' safety management are positively related to safety performance. The results also indicate that the relationships between safety concern, safety motivation and safety performance are significantly mediated by supervisors' safety management. Theoretical and practical implications of the findings for safety performance improvement in the container stevedoring operations context are discussed.
