We analyze main barriers for global trade of wood pellets, ethanol & biodiesel. Import tariffs can be a major barrier for liquid biofuels trade. Implementation of sustainability certification systems may hamper biofuels trade. Logistics are seen mainly as an obstacle for the trade of wood pellets. Development of technical standards are deemed an opportunity for bioenergy trade.
