The paper draws attention to the importance of a management process for enterprise competitiveness. By adapting the input‐output analysis framework, a management system model is developed as a way to assess and evaluate a management process. Based on in‐depth interviews with top executives, the model helps evaluate the effectiveness of a management process. This evaluation is based on a manufacturing firm with ISO 9001: 2008 and HACCP, and a service provider with numerous quality‐related awards and an international accreditation. The findings essentially underline the significance of performance measurement in an effective management process and identify three roadblock for achieving this effectiveness. Finally, future research direction on management process is also suggested.
