Organizing the production of a new product involves the necessity of determining the costs of tooling up for production and the costs of manufacturing and commodities; hence it involves finding the most rational plans for ancillary and basic production. The joint solution of the problems of planning the manufacture of the commodities and the tooling up is necessitated by the need to take into account the essential dependence of the labor consumption of production of the main product on time and on the production equipment, which leads to the necessity of solving various problems in nonlinear programming with a decreasing cost function. This note considers the problem of minimizing labor costs for technological tooling up and for output of a single type of product whose manufacturing process encompasses several forms of production or technological operations, with each form of technological operation implemented after the completion of the preceding form.
