Practitioner use of aggregate production planning (AP) models is surveyed through the use of a mail questionnaire. Findings indicate that the use of sophisticated AP models is rare and that new model development must focus on simplicity of application to actual AP problems, with specific attention to the importance of an accurate demand forecast.
