A multicriteria approach to allocating order quantity among vendors

This article considers a buyer who seeks to allocate an order quantity among vendors. Making this decision is complicated by the buyer’s desire to simultaneously meet the sometimes conflicting goals of quality, price, lead time, and service, and also the production or rationing constraints of the vendors. The authors illustrate that goal programming is a straightforward approach to solving this multicriteria problem.
