Introduction to computation and learning in artificial neural networks

A short historical overview of the development of artificial neural networks is given and some of the concepts and terms used within the field are introduced. The authors then describe 5 network models: The perceptron, the Hopfield network, the Hopfield-Tank net, the Boltzmann machine and the Kohonen self-organizing network. The description of each model consists of topology, dynamics of computation and learning, and is rounded up with an application example.
