Locating a facility outside the transportation netweork: Localization results

In this paper we address the problem of locating a semiobnoxious facility in the plane where the transportation costs are measured on a network and the environmental costs are measured through planar distances. Since the facility is not forced to be lcated in the network, the construction of a link connecting them may be necessary. We derive some localization results in the general case, where environmental cost are given by non-increasing convex functions. The particular case where these functions are linear is dealt with extensively, obtaining sharper results.
