Applying Taguchi method to determine the target values in goal programming

Setting the right target is of utmost importance in goal programming. An erroneous or an unreasonable target can lead to inferior solutions, resulting in misallocation of resources. This paper, using Taguchi's quality loss function proposes a systematic approach for setting an appropriate achievement level for goals in goal programming. The application of the proposed model is illustrated through a case study.
