Abstract:

After the analysis of the current situation, the problem was defined as high costs in collection and separation processes and improvements are done in order to decrease these high costs. In addition to that, after the negative impact of disorder in pallet station to the separation process is observed, a new layout for the pallet station was designed. After many studies, some solutions are provided to the company. These suggested solutions are implemented in practice by the company. As a result of these applications, in the pallet station the distance materials traveled are reduced by 70%, the amount of materials separated are increased by 17% with the new mechanisms and with the program designed ‘RotaCiz’, total distance traveled by collection vehicles are decreased in average 42%.
