Abstract:

Nonsmooth analysis and exact penalty methods give much prominence to functions that exit from certain lower–level sets with positive upward slope. A novel, weak version of such slopes is formalized here and studied in terms of differential properties. Applied to inf–convolutions, those properties help to recover and extend recent results on nonconvex separation, cooperative production (or market) games, and welfare economics.
