Abstract:

Nowadays in Brazil there are a great number of sugarcane varieties available to plant. Despite the plenty of possibilities for sugarcane cultivars, excessive cultivation of just one variety is assumed to be a great problem that could occur in the next few years. The construction of an optimization model for cultivation applied to these varieties that would support the search for the best combination among the high number of existing varieties would be of extreme importance for agricultural planning. The goal of this work is to create a methodology that could be implemented in sugar-mills and could be useful as a support in management decision-making for the sugarcane varieties, making sugar production more efficient. The mathematical model includes the sugarcane varietiesm the production areas, the productivities in the months of harvest, the constraints of percentage of maximum plantation and necessity of cane delivery. The solution of the problem indicates the maximum percentage of varieties to be planted in the correct areas, optimizing the sugar-mill plantation.
