This paper is a comparative analysis of county and macroregional development in Croatia for 1991 by application of multicriterial analysis. The procedure of multicriterial ranking and evaluation is based on a large number of indicators, i.e. the concept of development is not expressed, as usually, by only one indicator, e.g. the national product per capita. A set of 29 indicators was chosen. They were distributed into six groups and in cooperation with an expert team they were synthetized by multicriterial analysis into one common indicator for regional and county development level.
