Abstract:

Our research defines three dominant research paradigms of Management Information Systems: the organizational, strategic and the behavioristic paradigm. We show that they have developed in six different groups of mostly Anglo–American authors without being influenced by the so-called productivity paradox of information technology. Summarizing these three paradigms we find that MIS is closely related to economic and sociological research.
