Abstract:

Suppose that a logistically growing resource stock is harvested with convex harvesting cost and that the harvested biomass is sold for a constant price. By optimizing the discounted profit stream in a diserete-time dynamic programming framework it turns out that optimal harvesting policies and the resulting resource stock may exhibit a whole spectrum of complex dynamics.
