Abstract:

Six Sigma is systematic method for making dramatic reductions in defects in products, processes, and transactions. However, the critical premise is that a few vital factors, which cause most of the variation in process, must be detected and eliminated. This ascertainment can be described by using theoretical analysis. In this research, a process function is used to describe the relationship between the output measures of a process and the relevant process factors. The concept of Six Sigma improvement is to reduce the standard deviation, or to center the process around the target, or to achieve both. After the optimization model (based on the process function) has been developed, actions for improvement can be undertaken on the key factors that have greater marginal contribution to output performance.
