The cast-plate-method of manufacturing acrylic-glass gives raise to a batch scheduling problem on parallel processing units. This paper introduces the real world problem as well as an appropriate mathematical programming formulation. The authors describe a heuristical approach for gaining production sequences that employ the parallel processing units to capacity.
