Abstract:

The aim of this paper is to extend the TOPSIS method to deal with multiple attribute decision making problems in fuzzy environments. This paper presents a novel TOPSIS method for multiple attribute decision making based on intuitionistic fuzzy sets theory. The rating of each alternative is expressed in intuitionistic fuzzy value. Then, the distance between two intuitionistic fuzzy sets is defined. According to the principle of TOPSIS, a closeness coefficient is defined to determine the ranking order of all alternatives by calculating the distances to both the intuitionistic fuzzy positive-ideal solution and intuitionistic fuzzy negative-ideal solution simultaneously. Finally, an example is shown to highlight the procedure of the proposed method at the end of this paper.
