This article is divided into three interrelated parts. Part one introduces the definition of the O–D (origin–destination) trip table and P–A (producing–absorbing) trip table and the difference between them as well as the reason for the existence of these two kinds of trip tables. The second part explores differences between the use of them in the four-step models of traffic demand forecasting. At last the third part focuses on the change method from P–A trip table to O–D trip table.
