Abstract:

The passage of the Motor Carrier Act has transformed the trucking industry from a stagnant environment to one chacterized by intense competition and innovative strategies. The authors examine the implications of the Act on shippers who are operating under JIT purchasing concepts and discuss various avenues through which a shipper and a trucker can establish mutually beneficial long-term relationships.
