Abstract:

Emergency medical services are very complex systems to operate. Most of the subproblems are large scale and many are stochastic in nature. After describing the problem, the authors present the results obtained in four principal areas: demand forecasting, scheduling, optimal location of waiting points and simulation as an evaluation tool.
