Abstract:

Inland Container Corporation, handicapped by insufficient capacity and outdated production equipment, turned around a production facility through significant capital investment to meet increasing domestic demand for its product. During a period of record earnings and capital spending in the container-board market, Inland experienced a 100% increase in income through process improvements that increased capacity 30% yet reduced manufacturing costs by 10%.
