Product designers must recognize customers’ needs and design a range of products to match them intelligently. These products must also be designed to assure the highest possible quality and to facilitate manufacturing and assembly of these products with minimum possible lead times for prompt delivery to the market, with minimum possible inventory and the highest possible shop-floor productivity. This article presents a set of interrelated innovative product design strategies to accomplish these objectives.
