This is a strategy for stabilizing the final assembly schedule in a manufacturing firm which is involved in JIT implementation. Such stability is an important part of providing a proper JIT environment, yet is often difficult to obtain using conventional tactics in the face of volatile customer demands. The strategy provides for maintaining customer service with a stable schedule even if the actual demand is erratic and volatile.
