Competitive pressures have heightened the need for effective manufacturing planning and control, resulting in an increased emphasis on performance improvement. This study looks at the changes that have taken place in 40 companies over a five-year period and explores the issue of whether or not organizations are realizing performance gains. Findings indicate that many organizations have realized improvement, but few are achieving their desired performance goals.
