Abstract:

Better communication in, and education about, master production scheduling could result from assigning different meanings to these similar terms. This distinction offers a new approach to the ‘available to promise’ and ‘projected available’ concepts that makes them easier to grasp. ‘Projected on-hand’ rather than ‘projected available’ should be used to describe the projected end-of-period inventory.
