Tempeh is common to Indonesian people, and is considered as their traditional food. Due to the increasing price of tempeh ingredients (i.e. soybean, inoculum, lupin and water), there is a need to apply optimisation techniques to this industry. This paper models the objective function and constraints to determine the optimal composition to manufacture a package of 200 grams of tempeh. Since the price of each ingredient often does not take a single value, but lies in an interval, the linear programming method with fuzzy objective function coefficients is more realistic to employ rather than the crisp linear programming.
