The control chart is an important statistical process control tool which is used to monitor and control processes. An important decision that must be made when utilizing control charts concerns the appropriate sample size. This study examined the sample sizes used with control charts by 61 firms to determine if the sample sizes provided adequate power to detect critical shifts in the processes.
