The refined descriptive sampling produces blocks of descriptive samples of prime numbers sizes. The advantages of refined descriptive sampling is that it eliminates both problems of descriptive sampling, which are the determination of the sample size beforehand and the possibility of producing biased estimates through simulation. In this paper, we used the three phase approach in discrete event simulation, to evaluate the performance measures of a production system. A comparative study is made to show that the refined descriptive sampling provides better results than descriptive sampling and random sampling.
