A variety of interesting and useful research developments in conflict analysis are evaluated, compared and put into proper perspective. In particular, after presenting some basic definitions and concepts used in the conflict modelling and analysis of a given dispute, research contributions contained in the upcoming eleven papers on conflict analysis are examined. Challenging research opportunities in conflict analysis are pointed out and the relationships of conflict analysis to other decision-making methods developed in operational research and elsewhere are discussed. When implemented as decision support systems, techniques from conflict analysis provide valuable decision technologies for addressing pressing problems arising in multiple objective-multiple participant decision-making.
