As a common approach in multiple criteria decision-making, it is possible for a rank reversal problem to arise in the traditional TOPSIS method when it is in use. This paper analyses the cause of rank reversal in TOPSIS method and presents a modified method which not only can eliminate rank reversal but can reflect the relative importance of different criteria on the final results.
