Particle swarm optimization is a newly emerging method for swarm intelligence optimization. We construct the particle presentation for flexible job shop scheduling according to the characteristic of flexible job shop scheduling and give the detailed process for application. Finally, we compare the genetic algorithm with particle swarm optimization. The results have shown the effectiveness of particle swarm optimization for flexible job shop scheduling.
